The Peace Studio is proud to be in partnership with The City of Miami DHS and Pridelines to offer this premier Public Art Commission to the Artist as Catalyst community. Claim Miami as your own in an impactful and lasting way!

The Peace Studio is commissioning the design and installation of a mural to cover the facade of the new Pridelines Safe Center, located at 5525 NW 7th Avenue Miami, FL 33127. Selected artist(s) will receive $4,000 to produce this mural.

Criteria & Eligibility 

  • Calling all Catalyst! This opportunity is open to every and all artists who participated in AAC (2022, 2023, 2024).
  • Please note there is no age requirement. Artists do not have to apply as a team but are encouraged to do so. If applying as a team, you may include artists who have not participated in AAC. However, the make-up of the team must be 60% alumni.  
  • No previous public art/mural work required.

PRIDELINES 

Pridelines is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded by gay and bisexual youth for LGBTQ youth and their allies in the wake of Anita Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign.  Rooted in a peer-led/adult-facilitated youth group model, and with the help of Dr Marilyn Volker, Peter Meyer and other concerned adults, the group began meeting at Miami-Dade College in 1982.  In 1999 the group incorporated, moved into its own space and changed its name to Pridelines Youth Services.  Fundraising efforts quickly increased, Health Department contracts soon followed and programs grew contributing the growth of Pridelines Youth Services.  Pridelines was one of the first community-based HIV testing sites in Miami-Dade County.  More than 40 years later, Pridelines continues to providesafe space, social support, skills building, leadership development and referrals to mental health, health care and support services for LGBTQ youth and their straight allies throughout South Florida. 

THE SAFE CENTER 

Pridelines is the headquarters for the agency and is a LGBTQ+ community center that provides a safe and welcoming space for youth and adults, offering support, education, and advocacy programs.
